  1. Hi, we would fund our action plan as follows:

    1. 1p rise in income tax‎ – will raise around £4.5 billion/year
    2. Scrap the market – conservatively estimated to cost £4.5bn/year to run
    3. Renegotiate PFI deals – hospital trusts currently spend £2bn/year on repayments
    4. ‎Stop wasting money on:
Locums – £2.5bn/year (one agency consultant costs the same as 4 consultants on NHS staff, an agency nurse costs double a staff nurse)
    Management consultants – £ 640m/year
    5. Greater investment in public health education, including exercise, and stricter controls on alcohol, tobacco, sugar and healthy eating will save money in the long run by the cutting cost to the NHS of alcohol, smoking, diabetes and obesity.
    6. ‎Integration of health and social care and greater investment in socal care will save money by diverting pressure from, and reducing costly treatment at, A&E units, hospitals and GP practices.
    7. Investing in health will stimulate economic growth, ensure a healthy workforce and encourage spending in local economies.
    8. Use the purchasing power of the NHS to secure better deals
    9. Income from sugar tax and higher alcohol pricing

We would also crack down on tax avoidance (£20bn), tax evasion (£70bn). Please see our manifesto and policies for further information http://nhap.org
